Financial Planner is the term most often used in finance, these individuals directly work with public and often create holistic financial plans. Below you will find coaching related to the structure of the industry, along with some interpretations that may be valuable to understand when working with planners.

The Real Cost of Safe Money

Altoona, PA – A fellow Investor Coach shared a story about a Senior Citizen on a radio talk show the other day, lamenting about the ultra-low CD rates the banks are now paying. He had recently spent an entire afternoon visiting one bank after another, trying to eke out a few extra pennies to help […]

Preparing For Peace of Mind

As Investment Advisors we experience firsthand the roller coaster that many individuals go on emotionally when they start to think about the monumental task of retirement planning. Most issues in retirement can be explained in a logical manner that in reality should trump the emotion. We believe education leads to clarity, clarity to confidence, and […]

The Investor’s Dilemma

Investments, income planning, portfolio construction, and tax planning are just a few topics that throw many people into the investor dilemma mindset. We are all emotional individuals; we want to be secure in our future financially. This need for security leads us to try to forecast our financial future. As we embark on a journey […]

Are You Diversified?

When it comes to portfolio construction, as well as portfolio allocation, one of the biggest areas that investors do not understand is the concept of dissimilar price movement. A simple example would be the idea of owning umbrella companies and sun tan lotion companies. Umbrella companies, unto themselves may be volatile, and sun lotion companies, […]

In Life and Retirement Planning “It’s Never a Mystery”

Lewisburg, PA – The common phrase “it’s never a mystery”, should end with, “except for the people involved”. Is it a mystery why the athlete medals in the Olympics? Not when you consider the coaching, training, years of perfecting technique, and all the pieces that it takes to win. In contrast, most people see a […]

Why Not GIPS?

I was just reviewing our 20 year returns recently for all of our portfolios and was pleasantly surprised how well the market has performed in the last 20 years. Despite the government involvement, the credit bubble, the tech bubble, and the energy bubble, the market has still performed extremely well. You may be wondering, how […]

Looking Out for Mr. Ponzi

This summer Bernie Madoff will be celebrating his 4th anniversary in federal prison, 146 years to go. Madoff masterminded the largest Ponzi Scheme (slang for financial scam) in world history.  Thousands of unsuspecting investors were swindled.  In many cases, ordinary people lost their life savings. Having had such a long prison sentence imposed, you would […]

Memo to Financial Advisors: Women Are Not Men!

Supposedly, Freud once posed the question: What do Women Want?

It seems to me the Financial Industry is still trying to figure that out. (But then again, aren’t most men?)

Smart Money reports that over 70% of women feel underserved and dissatisfied with the financial-planning services they receive.

This crazy economy has handed advisors a golden opportunity to reach out to women…who know they need help and, according to the question I get most often, are desperately looking for advisors they can trust.

Here’s where I believe the financial industry has missed the boat. Advisors are talking to women just like they do men…because the financial world is based on the male model of communication. Big mistake.

Women are not men!

What’s Your End Game?

I often get the deer in headlight stare when I ask that question. My father was a taskmaster my whole life….to the point of annoyance as a young person. The main lessons I have gleaned from his “get r done” attitude, do not give me excuses, personally if you are going to pursue a task; […]
