Portfolio Construction: Navigating the Fog of Investing

Excerpts from Navigating the Fog of Investing. The world finance is lauded with manufactured perceptions and techniques designed to create transactions. The revenue created from transactions, that is stocks and mutual funds being bought and sold on a rampant daily basis is staggering for when you look at all the major brokerage firms. This shear amount of administrative work created on a daily basis by trades in the billions of shares daily is monumental. Why so much trading? Why so much uncertainty? Why does the solution encompass the idea that one should be constantly creating a stream of trading? The reality is that science has empirically proven that achieving a market return minus the cost of investing is all an investor can consistently hope to harness.
